Elon Musk went viral in 2014 when he announced that Tesla would open up its patents related to electric vehicle manufacturing. A philanthropist? Well, regardless of how much Mr Musk may have done for humanity, the reality behind this move was far from altruistic. This decision had more to do with something much more pragmatic: Tesla had been so pioneering that it had no market to exploit. It was so far ahead of its competitors that the electric car market lacked mature suppliers, charging networks, supportive mobility policies, and many other key elements.
In this way, Tesla helped competitors, suppliers, and others to catch up and rapidly gain knowledge—and it is precisely this last factor, knowledge, that forms the essential foundation for building any market and…
… no matter how much the man who sent a car into orbit might hate hydrogen, our sector—now growing at full speed—is following a similar path to electric mobility, and it too requires a great deal of knowledge to move in the right direction.
That’s why so many of you are looking to learn about renewable hydrogen, methanol, ammonia, and more. And that’s exactly why we’ve decided to put together this post—to summarise the main training programmes we’re currently involved in, where we share all our knowledge and passion for this sector that has such an important role to play in saving the planet. This way, you can find and choose the courses that best suit your needs.
Advanced training
In this section, we’ll present those training courses that require more than 100 hours of instruction—meaning they have the time and depth to explore every corner of the sector, offering a highly comprehensive level of preparation.
Renewable Hydrogen Expert Course by TÜV SÜD
Of course, we had to start with our flagship course—a programme delivered 80% by AtlantHy and 20% by our valued colleague Carlos Zygier. With five editions already completed.
This course includes 100 hours of training and brings together theoretical manuals prepared by the instructors, with over 600 pages of detailed content. It also features five two-hour masterclasses and full online tutoring throughout the entire programme. It’s truly an excellent option for learning from experts who work on such projects on a daily basis and who can clarify any questions you may have. The cost of the Expert Level Course is €1,800.
Online Master’s in Hydrogen Technologies (Continuing Education)
This Postgraduate Master’s is aimed at both the academic sector (with a focus on specialisation and improving employability) and the industrial sector (providing both fundamental and specialised knowledge of hydrogen technologies as an energy vector). With a total of 60 ECTS credits, the University of Burgos has brought together a wide range of professionals from different companies—including AtlantHy—to deliver modules based on real-world practice. You’ll learn from experts in project development and strategy, like us, as well as specialists in hydrogen compression, such as Hiperbaric, among many others.
The cost of the Master’s programme is €2,400.
Intermediate training
In many cases, it’s not necessary to become a true expert in these technologies—what matters is to understand them properly and with insight, or simply to approach them from a specific area of interest, such as industrial safety, mobility, and so on. At AtlantHy, we also lead or take part in this kind of initiatives, some of which we present below.
Course in Hydrogen Technologies
This course is delivered entirely by AtlantHy in collaboration with Ingeoexpert, the training platform provider. It’s a very engaging course, featuring three two-hour masterclasses, ongoing online support through the platform, and weekly theoretical materials shared with participants. Once again, the course covers the entire hydrogen sector and could be considered the younger sibling of the first one we mentioned.
It is an 80-hour training course with a cost of €350, including a €100 discount for unemployed participants or students.
It will be very useful for gaining an initial overview of the sector and building a well-structured, solid foundation of knowledge.
Hydrogen Value Chain and Economics (Introductory Level) and Hydrogen Technologies (Introductory Level)
If you’re from Galicia or your company operates in the region, you’re in luck—these two introductory courses, each 30 hours long, are completely free for you.
These courses are delivered in collaboration with the Galician Hydrogen Association and are aimed at spreading knowledge about this molecule within Galician society. They’re highly educational and easy to follow, as they don’t require additional effort or complementary activities—although participants are required to complete final assessments to demonstrate what they’ve learned.
They are fully on-demand, with pre-recorded lessons you can enjoy at any time.
Modular Course in Hydrogen Safety. Plant Typologies for Green Hydrogen and Its Derivatives
Our latest contribution in the field of training: as of this year, we’ll be participating in this course, which is heavily focused on industrial hydrogen safety. We’ll be contributing our broader sector knowledge, while other subject-matter experts will cover every consideration needed to ensure that hydrogen plants are safe and compliant. Among other topics, the course covers:
- The key safety aspects that must be taken into account.
- The current legal requirements, along with the relevant technical references and regulatory documents that should be considered.
- The professional requirements, qualifications, or certifications in safety that are mandatory or recommended.
- The applicable risk management tools and recommendations on safety measures.
The course is made up of five modules, with the cost summarised in the image below:

Conclusion
And that concludes the formal training we currently deliver. With these programmes, AtlantHy proudly does its part to help build an army of true experts who, through their day-to-day work, can contribute to the development of this growing sector.
If you’re a company looking to train your team, we also offer in-house courses—and we’ve already delivered several training programmes for internationally renowned organisations.
Don’t forget that we also share a wealth of knowledge through our AtlantHy Academy and El Podcast del Hidrógeno!
